Golden Perch

Golden Perch

Golden Perch form the backbone of the inland fishing in Australia. They are willing takers of baits including crayfish, shrimps and worms. They are also lure takers with spinnerbaits and trolled deep diving lures gaining more popularity. Eating qualities vary depending upon the waters they are caught from and the size of the fish. Larger fish are often very fatty along the top of the back.

Australian Bass

In recent years the popularity of bass fishing has increased mainly due to the stocking programs in our local lakes, creeks and rivers. While taking the name of the renown bass of the Americas, Australian bass are a totally different species of fish that are uniquely Australian. They normally live in the upper tidal reaches of rivers as far upstream as 150 km from the mouths.

Silver Perch

Mary River Cod

Mary River Cod

Mary River Cod are an endangered species and are protected in all waters within the Mary River catchment. They are allowed to be caught outside the Mary River catchment in some stocked lakes only. In other rivers and streams outside the Mary River catchement, Mary River Cod are tottally protected. If you happen to catch one, it should be released as quickly as possible to avoid undue stress on the fish.
